Paying for College 101

This workshop is designed to help high school students and their parents understand the nuts and bolts of the financial aid application process.  Participants will get a detailed case study of how college financial aid is awarded, how to compare award packages and cost comparisons, how to fill the gap if traditional financial aid does not meet their needs and much more. 
 
 
Preparing for the ACT

3:30pm - 4:15pm
 
All high school juniors will be required to take the ACT in the spring of 2009. You can begin now to acquire a basic understanding of what the test measures and how the questions are written. The presenter will review tips and strategies for being prepared to do your best on the test. Students will be provided a copy of the free booklet, "Preparing for the ACT.” This booklet contains a real ACT test.
 

It’s Money Baby!

This workshop is designed to teach students and parents about financial matters which will help them make wise decisions.  This presentation cover topics such as: Cash, how to get it, and how to keep it; Money Plans, how to use a budget as a tool to track spending; Banking, how to choose a band or credit union; Credit Cards, to pay off debt, compare offers and reading the fine print; How to find money for college and much more.
 
Way past 18?  No Problem:  Earning a degree as an adult learner

This 20 minute session will give insight into the big questions adults have when they consider returning to school and provide some answers. Topics to be included:  Financing your Education, How to find the time, Determining the right program for you.  Presented by Melissa Peak – Corporate Development Manager for University of Phoenix, Louisville Campus
